GCC Condemns Attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, Calls for International Action

(MENAFN) The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has strongly criticized the recent attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait, describing the incidents as a serious escalation that threatens regional stability.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi condemned what he said were ongoing Iranian attacks against the two Gulf nations. He specifically denounced strikes directed at civilian facilities, infrastructure, government sites and diplomatic missions.

According to the statement, the attacks represent a "dangerous and unprecedented escalation" and reflect the “Iranian regime’s insistence on pursuing rejected hostile policies targeting the security, stability and sovereignty of the GCC states."

Albudaiwi argued that the continued incidents demonstrate Iran’s determination to pursue actions that undermine regional security, describing them as occurring "in blatant defiance of international law, the UN Charter and all international norms."

He further stressed the need for a stronger global response, saying the situation requires "a firm international stance" to halt what he described as “dangerous Iranian aggressive practices.”

The GCC secretary-general also emphasized that the security of Bahrain and Kuwait is "an integral part of the security of the GCC states."

Reaffirming the bloc’s position, he said GCC member countries remain united in responding to the attacks and support the measures taken by Bahrain and Kuwait to protect their sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
