Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Taking Part in Strait of Hormuz Security Talks
In a Telegram statement, Zelenskyy also revealed that Kyiv is preparing security proposals for Europe, modeled on agreements recently negotiated in the Middle East and Gulf states.
"Safe navigation is a global value, as we know from our experience of protection in the Black Sea," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that Arab nations required “expertise” in their defense systems, which Ukraine’s specialists were able to provide. He added that these efforts resulted in long-term agreements on security cooperation.
"The next few weeks will be devoted to just such work with our partners in Europe -- our joint productions, our defense modernization, defense financing programs, and security coordination," Zelenskyy said.
He cautioned that circumstances can shift rapidly. "Of course, the situation can change on a daily basis — and quite significantly, especially considering what is happening with Iran and in relations between Europe and America. But our interests are long-term — for everyone in Europe, first of all, it is the interest of security," he said.
Zelenskyy also reported that Ukrainian diplomats have received similar requests from Asian countries, directing them to act quickly.
"There will be contacts with leaders and work at the level of the Foreign Ministry and at the level of other ministries. The main thing is that we constantly provide Ukraine with real opportunities for protection," he said.
Following the start of the US-Israeli strike on Iran, Zelenskyy said numerous Arab nations asked Ukraine to assist in defending against Iranian drones — assistance that he said was successfully delivered.
