Trump Warns Iran Energy Infrastructure Could Be Destroyed if Talks Fail
He issued a strong warning that failure to achieve a deal—along with continued disruption in a critical maritime route—could lead to severe consequences. "If for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately 'Open for Business,' we will conclude our lovely 'stay' in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!)," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Even with this threat, Trump emphasized that negotiations remain active, describing them as "serious discussions" involving what he called a "new and more reasonable" leadership in Iran.
In additional remarks shared according to reports, Trump indicated that Iran appears willing to resolve the conflict, saying the situation is progressing "unbelievably well."
Meanwhile, Iranian officials denied engaging in any direct talks with the United States, explaining that recent communication has only occurred indirectly through mediators.
According to reports, several countries in the region have stepped in to facilitate dialogue, with Pakistan expressing readiness to host potential negotiations.
Earlier, Trump had voiced support for diplomatic initiatives, noting that intermediaries—including Pakistan, Türkiye, and Egypt—are helping relay messages between Washington and Tehran. He pointed out that indirect negotiations conducted through Pakistani representatives were advancing, adding: "A deal could be made fairly quickly."
