Pentagon Says Claims of Hegseth-Linked Defense Investments Are False
A Pentagon spokesperson, Sean Parnell, stated on the social media platform X, “This allegation is entirely false and fabricated,” referring to a report by the Financial Times.
According to the Financial Times, which cited three sources familiar with the matter, Hegseth’s broker at Morgan Stanley allegedly contacted BlackRock in February about a potential multimillion-dollar investment in the asset manager’s Defense Industrials Active ETF.
Parnell clarified that neither Hegseth nor any of his representatives approached BlackRock regarding such an investment. “This is yet another baseless, dishonest smear designed to mislead the public. We demand an immediate retraction,” he said.
He added that Hegseth and the Pentagon “remain unwavering in their commitment to the highest standards of ethics and strict adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.”
