Explosions Rock Iran as US-Israeli Strikes Continue
The blasts erupted against a backdrop of sharply escalating hostilities, following a sustained campaign of coordinated military strikes by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iranian targets stretching back to last month.
US President Donald Trump fanned the flames further Monday, posting unedited and uncaptioned footage to social media capturing massive explosions from the latest wave of attacks on Iran.
Prior to the overnight blasts, The Wall Street Journal reported that US forces had struck a large ammunition depot in Isfahan using 2,000-pound bunker buster bombs. Citing a US official, the report disclosed that a high volume of bunker-busting penetrator munitions were deployed in the strike.
The developments represent the latest chapter in a widening conflict that has gripped the region since Israel and the US jointly launched their offensive against Iran on Feb. 28 — a campaign that has since killed more than 1,340 people, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and triggered sweeping retaliatory strikes from Tehran across the broader Middle East.
