Rubio, Canada's FM Address International Security Issues in Phone Call

(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone call Monday with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, with the two officials addressing a range of pressing international security matters, the State Department confirmed.

Central to the discussion were developments surrounding Iran, with the State Department highlighting what it characterized as "decisive actions" taken by President Donald Trump aimed at dismantling Tehran's nuclear program and ratcheting up pressure on the Iranian government.

Rubio also used the call to outline Washington's ongoing efforts to restore order in Haiti, pointing to American backing for the UN-authorized Gang Suppression Force as a cornerstone of that strategy.

The State Department released no further details regarding the substance of the exchange.
