Hollywood Director’s Son Gets Taken into Custody
Investigators concluded that Rob and Michele Reiner fell victim to homicide. An initial inquiry indicated that Nick Reiner, 32, was accountable for their deaths, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Nick was taken into custody nearly five hours following the police response to the scene on Sunday around 3:40 p.m. (2340GMT).
The police department confirmed that the accused remains in detention without bail, although LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell had previously mentioned that bail had been set at $4 million.
Officers arrived at the Reiners’ West Los Angeles home on Sunday, McDonnell stated. Upon entering, they discovered two deceased adults—a male and a female—later identified as Rob and Michele Reiner.
Rob Reiner, after his breakout performance on the television sitcom All in the Family, earned recognition as a director with films such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men, the latter receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
Among his most notable works is the 1984 “mockumentary” This Is Spinal Tap, which chronicles the decline of an aging heavy metal group into satire and obscurity. A sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, premiered this past September.
