U.S. Slaps New Sanctions on Iranian Arms Networks

(MENAFN) The United States announced on Wednesday a fresh round of sanctions targeting Iranian networks involved in procuring weapons for ballistic missile and military aircraft programs.

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) blacklisted 21 organizations and 17 individuals tied to the facilitation of acquiring "sensitive" materials and technology for Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL). These entities have played a critical role in advancing Iran’s missile and military aircraft manufacturing efforts.

According to the Treasury, these networks have aided in obtaining technology for sophisticated surface-to-air missile systems and the unlawful acquisition of a U.S.-made helicopter.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized the threat posed by Iran’s activities, stating, “The Iranian regime’s support of terrorist proxies and its pursuit of nuclear weapons threatens the security of the Middle East, the United States and our allies around the world."
